Design Standard Development
LSPS Solutions specializes in developing design standards for cities to establish criteria for use in the design of public water distribution mains and appurtenances, sanitary sewer collection mains and appurtenances, sanitary sewer lift stations, storm drainage mains and appurtenances, traffic control signs, streets, driveways, sidewalks and any other infrastructure whose maintenance is or will become the responsibility of that city.

Standard Detail Development
LSPS Solutions technicians regularly create standard details that can be imported into a design engineer’s construction plan drawings so that a city or public sector entity can be assured that the infrastructure being built in their jurisdiction is designed in accordance with their design standards. This is especially useful when a private developer is designing infrastructure that will ultimately be conveyed to the city and whose maintenance and operation will become the responsibility of the city.

LSPS Solutions provides these standard details in Adobe, AutoCAD, and MicroStation formats so that they can be downloaded directly from the city’s website.

Standard Operating Procedures
LSPS Solutions often work with public sector managers to create written Standard Operating Procedures for commonly performed maintenance and operations tasks. These SOPs, once adopted, can be used for employee training and to ensure that operations are performed consistently to maintain quality control of processes and products.

Rate Studies
LSPS Solutions performs water and wastewater rate studies to help utilities ensure that the rates they are charging their customers are sufficient to recover the utilities’ costs, adequate for funding capital improvement plans and projects, and to ensure that they are equitable across all customer classes. A rate study involves reviewing historical expenses and receipts and then projecting future cash flow needs to determine the revenue requirement, typically over a five-year span. The results of the revenue requirement portion of the study are then distributed across the utility’s various customer classes to arrive at proposed rates that are equitable and cost based.

Inflow/Infiltration studies
Infiltration occurs when groundwater seeps into the sanitary sewer pipes through cracks, leaky pipe joints and/or deteriorated manholes. Inflow is stormwater that enters the sanitary sewer system through rooftop gutter drains, yard drains, and basement sump pumps that are connected to the sewer. Inflow and infiltration create huge problems for wastewater utilities because the rain or groundwater surcharges the sanitary sewer lines and reduces the ability of sanitary sewer system to adequately transport and treat the actual wastewater.

LSPS Solutions provides Infiltration/Inflow studies that can include flow monitoring, smoke testing, manhole inspections, and CCTV inspection and cleaning of sanitary sewer lines and manholes to identify sources of the infiltration and inflow so that corrective measures can be taken.
